Job purpose:
Systems administrative and customer support for data backup and restore services.
Responsibilities:
The functional responsibilities required to fulfill delivery of data backup services are segmented considering delivery process boundaries and skill/experience requirements. The segments; from least to most complex, are defined as Level-1, Level-2 administration and level-3 engineering. The candidate will be expected to provide both Level-1 and Level-2 support and have opportunity for future career advancement commensurate with demonstrated performance and capabilities.
The Level-1 technician is responsible for administering support for Client Operations to include:
Registration of client nodes, providing TSM Client Code to the client System Administrator.
- Managing client nodes, guiding implementation of policies for client data
- Managing data for client nodes, Scheduling operations for client nodes, Managing scheduling operations for client nodes.
- Follow notification protocol in the event the TSM Server process needs to be brought down for maintenance or issues.
- Follow proper procedures for halting and starting the TSM Server Process
The Level-2 technician will be responsible for functions associated with maintaining the Host/Media Server environment:
- Working with a network of TSM servers, Managing server operations, Automating server operations.
- Managing the database and recovery logs, managing storage pool storage, monitoring the TSM server.
- Shall act as the first point of contact in the event a server or client question or issue arises that Level I Administration cannot react to in a timely manner.
Requirements:
• Technical University graduate
• Experience with Unix and/or Windows systems administration
• IP Network, WAN and LAN free (SAN) based data backup configuration experience would be a plus
• Tivoli Storage Manager user experience (TSM server admin would be a plus)
• Knowledgeable in Virtual tape, disk to disk to tape, data replication
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Proficient in Business English
