We require a passionate Storage Administrator that is looking to work in a fully managed enterprise server environment. The Administrator will be responsible for hands-on day-to-day technical support for EMC SAN and NAS hardware systems and tools. The scope of this position includes support for over 2 – Petabyte of raw storage on the floor running on EMC DMX, VMAX and Clariion arrays. All storage is housed within our two new $50 million datacenters.The Storage team will be responsible for administration (provisioning, replication, clones, snaps, etc…), uptime, performance, security, patching and troubleshooting. Participates in “On Call” schedule.
Basic Responsibilities and Objectives Include:
- Coordinate with ITSS and other stakeholders to provision storage as required;
- Utilize expert knowledge in storage management/ backup software tools to analyze trends and troubleshoot issues;
- Monitor storage systems to ensure adequate capacity, performance and availability;
- Provide documentation and direct activities of data center operations backup personnel;
- Measure and report on related storage, backup and recovery SLA’s;
- Assist with planning, preparation and ongoing disaster recovery readiness;
- Maintain appropriate controls and documentation (on-site/ off-site access and inventories) to ensure compliance of audit requirements.
Requirements:
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related
- 2+ years of technical experience in: Storage Management, storage performance optimization, backup policy development, tape management, Unix system administration
- experience in a complex, large volume operation
- solid understanding of data protection schemes including backup rotation, offsite tape management and encryption
- experience with large external storage units including NAS and/or SAN
- experience with related protocols NFS, TCP/IP, iSCSI, NMDP
- experience in working in UNIX environment; Solaris is a plus
- fluent in English.
